Robert Scott Schonts was born March 31st,1960, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Harold and Patricia (McDermott) Schonts. His childhood years were spent in Traverse City, Michigan before moving to Ida Grove, Iowa. Robert graduated from Battle Creek- Ida Grove High School in 1978.
Robert met his wife Dianna (Stork) while in high school, and they later married on May 1st, 1982. While married, they welcomed three children into their lives; Sarah, Scott, and an infant son. Throughout Robert’s life, he was a dedicated employee to many jobs, with his most recent being a trucker for Smith Trucking Inc., in Worthington Minnesota. He was very passionate about his position and was proud of the work he did.
The most important things in Robert’s life were his children, grandchildren, and his career. He looked forward to getting home for his weekends and spending time with family. Robert was known for always wearing his Smith Trucking hat, his blue jeans, and boots. He loved cracking jokes, watching his favorite shows, and eating at his favorite restaurants.
Robert passed away on March 27th, 2024 a few days before his 64th birthday. Preceding him in death are his parents, in-laws Fred & Marilyn Stork, wife Dianna, an infant son, and brother Jeff.
Left to cherish Robert’s memory is his daughter Sarah Schonts of Spencer, Iowa, son Scott (Addie Gilderhus) Schonts of Burlington, Iowa. Grandchildren Alexandra and Isabella Lewis, Deacon and Dylan Heida, and many family and friends.
