Robert Stuart Gibson

August 28, 1924 — September 2, 2006

Robert (Bob) Gibson, son of William and Martha Gibson, was born August 28, 1924, in Milford, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in the Greenville area and graduated from Greenville School in 1941. Being a salutatorian of the class, he received a scholarship to AIB in Des Moines, Iowa. Being an outdoors person, he left school and hitchhiked home. With a determined mind he was not going to be confined to an office building. He worked and lived with Joe and Lucile Beck for 18 years. Thanks to Joe and Lucile, he got started in farming and farmed until retiring in 1995. On December 8, 1974, Robert married Anna Sonius. They loved to travel and traveled to 10 countries in Europe, twice to Hawaii, Alaska, Bahama Islands and many states in the U.S. On January 11, 1976, Bob was baptized by Rev. Austin Rugger and became a member of the Zion United Methodist Church. Bob was also a member of Golden K's. Bob received a Service Award from the United States Department of Agriculture for 42 years of service to the ASC. Preceding Bob in death were his parents; his sister, Frances Cady; and Joe Beck, Sr. Bob is survived by his wife, Anna, of Spencer, Iowa; his extended family Lucile Beck and her sons, Joe, Jr., and Jon; nieces and nephews; sister, Fern Hargens and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 6, at the Warner Chapel, Spencer, Iowa.
