Robert Wakefield

March 18, 1920 — February 28, 2010

Robert W. Wakefield, the son of Miranda and Margaret (Kail) Wakefield was born March 18, 1920 in Moline, IL. He attended several grade schools before graduating from High School in Des Moines, IA. He then attended University of Iowa for two years before joining the United States Army during WWII. Robert worked as a registered land surveyor and was an assistant to the Clay County engineer. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards, watching trains, and especially enjoyed looking at maps. Robert married Barbara Sieh on July 2, 1949 in Okoboji, IA, and has lived in Spencer ever since. From this union there were three sons, John, Charlie and Thomas. Robert passed away February 28, 2010 at St. Luke's nursing home, at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Barbara. Left to cherish his memory are his three sons, John and his wife Denna Wakefield of Borger, TX, Charlie and his wife Janalee Wakefield of Minneapolis, MN, and Thomas and his wife Laura Wakefield of Spencer, IA; seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren; one sister Bette Block of Naples, FL.

Funeral services will be held Friday March 5, at 10:30 A.M. at Warner Funeral Home in Spencer

Visitation will begin at 12:00 P.M. Thursday March 4, with the family present from 6-8:00 P.M. at Warner Funeral Home in Spencer
