Robert Warren Madsen

Robert "Bob" Warren Madsen, son of Enock Joseph M. Madsen and Ethelyn M. Madsen, was born February 7, 1928, in Northfield, MN. His childhood years were spent in Sioux City, IA. He served two years in the United States Marine Corps. Later, he attended and graduated from the University of South Dakota in 1950. In that same year, Bob married Bessie Elizabeth Ashcraft, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, in Sioux City. They moved to Spencer in 1951, where Bob worked for the Upjohn Company as a pharmaceutical salesman for 35 years. Bob was a long time member of Bethany Lutheran Church. In those early years he taught Sunday School and served on the Church Council. He also was involved in the Boy Scouts and was a Clay County Literacy Coordinator and Coordinator for the Clay County red Cross Bloodmobile. Bob passed away Wednesday, November 10, at his home in Spencer, at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Kristy Madsen, and a brother, Earl Madsen. He is survived by his wife, Bess; daughter Deborah Burow and her husband Greg of Cape May, NJ; son David and his wife Shirley of Pleasant Hill, CA; son Dr. Daniel and his wife Roxann of Chillicothe, OH and foster son Shane Unbrell and his wife Heidi; 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, other relatives, and many friends.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will take place Saturday, November 13, at 10:30 A.M. at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer.
