Bobbie Fairchild, the daughter of Robert and Clara (Stodden) Harrison was born January 10, 1932 in Sioux City, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Sioux City, Iowa, where she received her education, graduating from Leeds High School. She later received her teacher's certificate from Wayne State College in Wayne, NE.
Bobbie married Jim Fairchild on February 12, 1956 in Sioux City, Iowa. Following their marriage, they moved to Sioux Rapids, where she taught Kindergarten and 1st Grade at Alta, Sioux Rapids and Sioux Central Public Schools, until her retirement in 1993 after 30 years of teaching. She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. Bobbie was also a member of the Women's Sorority at the church. Bobbie and Jim enjoyed camping and lived full time in their RV for seven years during their retirement.
Bobbie passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the age of 77. She was preceded in death by her parents and her infant sister, Carolyn Harrison.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jim of Spencer; her children: Tim and his wife, Pat of Cornelia, GA, Tom and his wife, Suki of Minneapolis, MN and Rita of Milford, IA; five grandchildren: Hope Updyke, Heather Speers, Angela and Eric Fairchild and Garrett Sindt; 3 great grandchildren: Ashtyn and Noah Updyke nd Olivia Speers; two brothers: Wayne Harrison and his wife, Sharon of Dakota Dunes, SD and Bruce Harrison and his wife, Suepenn of Minneapolis, MN; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Memorial services will be held 1:00 P.M., Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer.
