Roger Heikens

September 12, 1930 — January 25, 2022

Rural Milford

     Calvin Roger Heikens of rural Milford, 91, passed away on Jan. 25, 2022, at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was born on Sept. 12, 1930, near Spencer, Iowa, and was a 1948 graduate of Spencer High School.

     He felt blessed. In the U.S. Army he repaired trucks carrying supplies to the front lines of the Korean conflict, and following honorable discharge farmed the remainder of his life with a special passion for soil conservation. In 1958 he married Mary Tjaden of Wesley, Iowa.

     He was a member of Faith Community Church in Milford, Iowa, and antique farm machinery organizations. A lifelong interest in travel led to visiting all 50 states and various foreign countries.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Heikens Jr. and Agnes Janssen Heikens,  a brother & sister-in-law, Burdette & Phyllis Heikens and a  brother-in-law, Bill Calhoun. Survivors include his wife, Mary Heikens; sisters: Lois Calhoun and Lynne (Tom)  Zimmer; sons: Norman (Alice) Heikens of Franklin, Indiana, and their son, Ethan, and Randall (Nancy) Heikens of Spencer, Iowa, and their children: Elizabeth Heikens, Matthew Heikens and Samuel Heikens.







SERVICES
PRIVATE FAMILY SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT THE WARNER CHAPEL IN SPENCER ON Saturday, January 29, 2022.
