Roger Joseph Fude was born on November 28, 1953 and went to be with Jesus on January 31, 2017. He resided in Spencer, Iowa where he lived with his best friend, Shane.
Roger grew up in the Webb area and graduated from South Clay. He attended college for Radio Broadcasting where he met Denice Olson. They were married and from this union had two daughters, Stephanie and Sarah. Roger and Denice divorced and he fell in love with Jean Lindemann. Roger and Jean together raised Jean's children who he adopted through heart, Katoya, Tony, and Tyrone.
Roger had a love for the golden oldies music. He spent several hours playing on his keyboard and guitar and would learn the music by ear. While playing the golden oldies he often times had his children play, 'Name That Tune.' From this love of his music it was passed down to his five children who still enjoy the Golden Oldies to this day, and as a result his grandchildren now know and enjoy the Golden Oldies as well.
Roger will be remembered for his humor and jokes he often liked to tell people. He made sure everyone left him with a smile. Roger was also very giving and often times not having much himself, he would still give someone his last dollar just so they wouldn't be without. This is true when his daughter, Sarah, lived in Los Angeles to pursue art and he would send her money, but while doing this he ate ramen noodles the entire time. Roger was supportive of his children and their decisions in life. Roger referred to his daughter, Sarah, as his princess and even up to his death will still call her 'Princess.'
Roger went to be with Jesus on January 31, 2017, while he was on his way to Sioux Falls, SD. He was battling with Stage 4 Cirrhosis but had a heart attack. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Harold and Donna Fude; one sister and brother-in-law, Margret Ann Crow and her husband, Jim Crow; one brother in law, Bryce Wellnitz; and one grandson, Liam. Left to forever cherish his memories are his children, Stephanie Heller (Monte) of Austin, Texas, Sarah Fude-Huisman (Terry Huisman) of Sheldon, Iowa, Katoya Jepson, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Tony Cotton, Storm Lake, Iowa, and Tyrone Lindemann (Katie Lindemann) of Sheldon, Iowa. He had a total of 14 grandchildren. Also left to cherish his memories are his surviving siblings, Ron Fude (Elizabeth), Ray Fude (Karen), and Donna Wellnitz. Roger's memories will also be cherished by other family members and many, many friends.
