Roger Norman Negus

Roger Norman Negus, the son of Orson and Elsie (Heinze) Negus, was born September 2, 1932 in Sutherland, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Sutherland, where he received his education, graduating from Sutherland High School. After high school he drove the route for Sutherland Creamery, where he met Carole Tschill at a store in Marcus. They married on May 7, 1956 in Marcus, Iowa. After their marriage, they lived and farmed in Sutherland. They later lived and farmed near Larrabee, before returning to his hometown, where he continued to farm and milk cows until his retirement. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sutherland. Throughout the years, Roger enjoyed attending all of his children and grandchildren's ballgames and activities. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, sports of all kinds and of course his Hawkeyes. Roger passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters: Marjorie Negus, Helen Selk and Shirley Baier; one brother, James Negus and one nephew, Steven Selk. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Carole of Sutherland; one son, Douglas; three daughters and their husbands: Cherie and John Friedrichsen, Cathi and Dan Friedrichsen and Wendi and Joel Sickelka all of Sutherland; 11 grandchildren; one great grandchild; three brothers: his twin brother, Robert (Nina) Negus of Sutherland, Merle (Diane) Negus of Kingsley, IA, David (Cathy) Negus of Tilden, NE, Janet Negus of Springfield, IL and Donna (Kevin) Dighton of Davenport, IA; other relatives and many friends.
