Roger Wayne Rossiter

 Roger Wayne Rossiter, 103, the son of Bert and Pearle Rossiter was born on June 8, 1921 in Spencer, Iowa. Roger attended country school near Spencer, Roger then joined the US Navy, and served on the USS Lovelace. Roger was a First-Class Petty Officer Gunners mate while in the Navy. Roger met the love of his life Maxine in 1941. Roger and Maxine continued a long-distance relationship through Word War II. 

 The two were married on July 7, 1945, in Spencer, Iowa. In 1947 the couple moved to a farm near Worthington, Minnesota where he was a lifelong farmer and where they raised their four daughters. They lived together on the farm until Maxine passed away in 2018. Roger continued to live on the farm until shortly after his 103rd birthday.

 Roger enjoyed a full life, which included fishing, camping, woodworking, baking, giving rides in his airplane, and gardening. Roger’s favorite memories include camping with the family in Northern Minnesota and traveling Alaska. Roger was a devoted husband and father who’s greatest joy was his family.

 Roger passed away on September 3, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was proceeded in death by his parents; his wife, Maxine; his daughters: Betty and Brenda; infant great grandchild and two brothers: Donald and Lon. 

 Left to cherish Roger’s memory are his daughters: Beverly Schmidt and Barbara Schomaker (Bob Yeske); his grandchildren: Lisa Scott, Joe Hegwer (Kristi), Karri De Raad (Corey), Nathan Schmidt (Tiffany), and Stacy Hoss (Jesse); his great grandchildren: Kyle Trierweiler (Ashley), Tanner and Alex Hegwer, Martha, Brianna, and James De Raad, Theodore, and Phoebe Schmidt, and Madelyn and Ryan Hoss; great-great grandchildren: Zachery, Elijah, Bennett, Nixon, and Aubrynn.
