Ronald Gene Peterson

Ron was born January 28, 1929, in Sheldon, IA, to Bernard and Leta (Clow) Peterson of Archer, IA. He graduated from high school in 1947. Ron immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army and served until 1950 in Arlington, VA. He then enlisted in the Army Reserves and was employed by the Armed Forces Security Agency in Washington D.C. until the Fall of 1952. Ron was united in marriage to Juanita (Sally) McQueen on December 27, 1948. Ron and Sally returned to Iowa in late 1952, and settled in Spencer. Ron was employed by the Retail Credit/Equifax Co. for 30 years. He then worked for N.W. Moving Co. for 12 years.He was also Clay County Civil Defense Director for 5 years. He also volunteered as a driver for the Veteran's Administration for several years after retirement. Ron enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and golf. He also looked forward to morning coffee with 'The Boys' Ron passed away on June 11, 2017, at the St. Luke Lutheran Home at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Duane and his wife Audrey; two brother's-in-law, Boyd McQueen and Wayne McQueen. Ron is survived by his wife of 68 years, Sally; his three children: Linda Manwarren (Greg) of Spencer, IA, Steve Peterson (Karen of Hudson WI and Laura Newcomb of Sioux City, IA; eight grandchildren: Josh Manwarren (Tia), Erin Manwarren (Tom O'Brien), Jacob Manwarren (Amy), Stacy Peterson (Jeff), Kirk Peterson (Anna), Chelsey Schultz (Brad), Emma Swanson (Dan) and Colton Newcomb (Jamie); seven great grandchildren: Sheylyn, Emmalee, Jaxon, Trezdyn, Talon, Marley and Ella; two sister's-in-law, Judy McQueen and Deanna Maxwell; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Joint Memorial Services for Ronald and Juanita "Sally" Peterson will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, February 29, 2020 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer
