Ronald Gene Steuben

Ronald Gene Steuben, the son of Peter and Elfie Schoelerman Steuben, was born June 2, 1931 in Spencer, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Everly, Iowa, where he received his education, graduating from Everly High School in 1949. Following high school, he began his farming career. Ron married Shirley Thorman on December 1, 1955 in Sheldon, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived for a short time in Spencer, before moving to a farm near Everly in 1959. His wife, Shirley, passed away on August 17, 1969. Ron married Beverly Engel on August 25, 1979 at the Hope Lutheran Church in Everly, Iowa. The couple continued to live on a farm near Everly. One of Ron's biggest accomplishments was when he was named Master Pork Producer for the State of Iowa in 1968. He enjoyed dancing and watching sports. Ron passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at the age of 75. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Shirley. He is survived his wife, Beverly of Everly; one daughter, Lori Lynn Steuben of Spencer; a son, Kelly Gene Steuben of Jacksonville, FL; a stepdaughter, Elyse Engel of Lake Park, IA; a stepson, Bryan Engel and his wife, Betty, of Orleans, IA; five grandchildren; his twin brother, Robert Dean Steuben of Royal, IA; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, March 17, 2007 at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly.
