Ronald R. Rohrbaugh, the son of Jesse and Leona (Monahan) Rohrbaugh was born November 14, 1935, in Peterson, Iowa. Ron was a member of the United Methodist Church in Peterson where he was baptized, confirmed and attended Sunday school. He attended the Peterson Consolidated School and graduated in 1954. He enjoyed playing football and the Bass Horn in band.
On August 4, 1958, Ron was drafted to serve his country, stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado. He was in the Army until his discharge at Fort Ord, California, on August 4, 1960.
Ron was united in marriage to Barbara Mohror Straumer on May 7, 1971. He adopted her two children: Karen, age 7, and Rod, age 5.
Ron trucked with his father and brother, Robert from 1960-1969. In 1969, Ron worked for the Clay County Road Department driving truck and plowing snow until his retirement in September 1997, after having worked there 28 years. Ron and Barbara wintered in California, enjoying riding their Polaris Ranger through the desert and mountains of California.
Ron passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at the age of 87. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert Edwin and Richard Edward Rohrbaugh; brothers-in-law: Norman P. Johnson, Dale Kreibaum, Robert Duncan; sisters-in-law: Lois Rohrbaugh and Shirley Landis.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara; son, Rod C. Rohrbaugh; daughter, Karen Rohrbaugh; son-in-law, Janis Legzdins; grandson, Cody Rohrbaugh; granddaughter, Caitlin Rohrbaugh; sister, Donna Johnson; sisters-in-law, Shirley Duncan and Beverly Kreibaum; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
