Ronald Van Pelt

Ronald Craig Van Pelt was born Dec 31st, 1946 to Ray & Myrna (VerHoef) Van Pelt in Orange City, IA. He graduated from Orange City High School in 1965 and received his Associate's Degree at the Automotive Trade School of Sheldon. Ron worked for Punt Automotive in Orange City, and started his own auto parts store on the side. He founded a gasket manufacturing company, SPM in 1978 in Spirit Lake IA. He met Kathleen Binder and the two were married in 1980. Ron & Kathy lived in Spirit Lake until 1987 when they moved to Spencer, IA. Blessed with 3 Children: Christopher Ray - 1981, Audrey Kay - 1985, & Victor Jay - 1990. Ron loved his family & grandchildren, going to races, underbidding others at auctions, and having coffee with his friends. He found a passion for Buses and RV's, starting a new business and becoming renowned online as RonTheBusNut, helping countless RV owners afford their dreams. An unlikely friendship was formed in his final years with Lacey, the family pet miniature Chihuahua. Not a day went by without both of them cuddling on his recliner. Ron is survived by his wife, Kathleen of Spencer, IA; mother, Myrna Van Pelt and brothers, Scott and Janet Van Pelt of Des Moines IA, Bill Van Pelt and Melinda Olson of Sioux Falls, SD. His sisters, Virginia and Gary Vaden of Des Moines, IA and Rosemary and Alvin Wissink of Waconia, MN. His brother, Rob and father Ray are with him in heaven. Ron was the grandfather of RJ and Laylah Kalsow of his daughter Audrey Kalsow of Okoboji, IA. His son and daughter-in-law Chris Van Pelt and Snezana Aničić-Van Pelt who live in San Francisco, CA. His youngest son Victor Van Pelt is here in Spencer, IA. Ron passed away on Oct 12th at the Sioux Falls Avera Heart Hospital, we all miss him dearly and are so thankful for the love, laughter, and support he gave us through the years.
SERVICES
Funeral services will take place 1:30 P.M., Saturday, October 15, at Hope Reformed Church in Spencer.
