Ronald William Woods

     Ron Woods passed away on Thanksgiving morning, November 26, 2020 at the age of 68. His death was the result of complications stemming from COVID-19. Ron was born April 8, 1952 to his parents Bob and Patt Woods in Spencer, Iowa. Ron spent the majority of his adult life living in Emmetsburg, Iowa at the 15th Street group home, part of the Horizons Unlimited organization. Despite his lifelong mental disabilities, Ron was able to thrive in that environment and became a valued member of the community.

     Ron loved the Clay County Fair, especially the tractor pull, which simply couldn’t be missed each year. Ron also enjoyed going to the Thursday night car races in Algona in the summer especially when accompanied by stops at the Pizza Hut and Dairy Queen.

     Ron was preceded in death by both of his parents and is survived by his siblings, Anne and Michael.

The family would like to thank the Horizons Unlimited staff that provided Ron a safe and loving living environment. The family also would like to thank Dr. Jason Patton, the healthcare staff of Palo Alto County Hospital and Hospice staff of Palo Alto County who risked their lives trying to help Ron.
