Ronette Rae DuBois, the daughter of Donald Dean and Opal LaVonne Thompson DuBois, was born May 18, 1952, in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. Her early childhood years were spent in Sioux Rapids. Her family moved to Spencer, Iowa when Ronette was six years old, where she attended Lincoln school and later graduated from Spencer High School in 1970. Following high school, she continued her education at Nettleton College in Denver and later Sioux Falls, SD, where she received her AA degree in business.
Ronette began her business career at South Dakota School for the Deaf as a secretary and worked her way up to administrative assistant. She was married to Michael Hughes and to this union was born a son, Micah. They later moved back to Spencer and then to Spirit Lake, where she worked at KUOO in sales for many years. Ronette moved to Dakota Dunes in Sioux City, where she worked as an account executive for KMEG radio. Most recently, Ronette had moved to Sioux Falls, SD, where she worked as an account executive for Backyard Broadcasting until the time of her death. Her work and her family was truly her passion. She was a member of the Sales & Marketing Executives of Sioux Falls, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the "Lunch Bunch Group" and Hope Reformed Church in Spencer.
She passed away at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD on Monday, September 12, 2011 at the age of 59. She was preceded in death by her parents: Opal and Donald DuBois.
Left to cherish her memory are one son, Micah Hughes and his wife, Kim of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters: Donette Hanson of Spencer and Lanette Kilpatrick and her husband, Kent all of Spencer, IA; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, September 16, 2011 at the Hope Reformed Church in Spencer.
