Rosa Helen Warren, daughter of Eldin and Nina Bailey Lemaster, was born July 27, 1914, in rural Clay County, IA. Her childhood years were spent near Royal, IA, where she received her education, graduating from Royal High School.
Rosa married Lawrence Warren on February 16, 1934 at her parents' home. Following their marriage, Rosa farmed with her husband, Lawrence, until his death on November 8, 1984. She continued to live on their farm until failing health required her to move to Hospice care at Sutherland Care Center on May 9th of 2006. She grew up as a member of the United Methodist Church in Royal and was a current member of the United Methodist Church in Sutherland. She was a farmer and avid gardener. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, sewing, quilting and other needlework. She enjoyed mind-stimulating activities such as reading, crossword puzzles, and arguing politics.
Rosa passed away at the Sutherland Care Center on Thursday, May 11, 2006, at the age of 91. Her daughter, Cheryl, was her companion and loving caregiver for the last two and one-half years. Rosa was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence; and two sisters, Olive Shepley and Ruby Danielson.
She is survived by three daughters: Beverly and her husband, Roy Nelson of Decorah, IA, Nancy and her husband, Jim Stover of Nappanee, IN, and Cheryl Hansen of Sutherland, IA; one son, Gary and his wife, Denise Warren of Salt Lake City, UT; a close family friend, Vicki Witte of Sutherland, IA. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one brother, Everett Lemaster of Spencer, IA; one sister, Edith Traw of St. Louis, MO; many other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 15, 2006, at the United Methodist Church in Royal, Iowa.
