Agnes Rosa Alger, 6th child of Carl and Ermal (Moses) Reusch, was born January 18, 1934 in Paullina, IA. Her childhood years were spent in Ruthven, Paullina & Spencer IA, where she received her education.
Rose married Robert “Bob” Alger on December 23, 1952 in Greenville, IA. After their marriage and a stint in the U.S. Navy: they lived in Spencer and the Lakes Region, where they raised their family. Bob passed away unexpectedly in 1978. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. Rose was a founding member of the N.W. Iowa Singles Dance Group, where she danced all over N.W. Iowa. The Poka and the Waltz were her favorites. She was also active in many activities in Spencer including sand volleyball, Widow’s group and attending her grandchildren’s events and activities. Rose also enjoyed fishing, walking and reading in her spare time.
She passed away at Northshire Residence in Spencer on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at the age of 88. Rose was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; Her Grandson Ben Place; her 5 brothers: Darrell, Harold, Carl, Dale and Floyd Reusch and one sister, Viola Sassman-Goodwin.
Rose is survived by her children: Vangie Place Cowen of Spencer, IA, Tracy (Jacque) Alger of Lisbon, IA, & Robbin (Mike) Mahorney of Laurens, IA; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; 1 sister, Macil (Lorne) Leeds of Kansas City, MO; many other relatives and friends.
