Roselyn Violette Holmberg, the daughter of Gottfreid Theodore and Anna Wilhemene Bjorklund Shold, was born January 24, 1924 on the family farm in rural Albert City, IA. She spent her childhood years there, attended the area country school and went on to graduate from the Albert City High School. She attended business school in Des Moines, IA where she continued to live working as a secretary.
Roselyn married Ned Holmberg on May 23, 1959, in Des Moines, IA. They made their home in the Webb community where they farmed until retiring in 1990. At that time, they moved to Spencer.
Roselyn had been an active member of the First Baptist Church in Webb for a number of years where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. After moving to Spencer, she joined the First Baptist Church in Spencer and served as a Deaconess. Roselyn had been a member of the Gideon’s since 1978. In her leisure time, she enjoyed following the Iowa State basketball team, traveling and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Holmberg passed away May 28, 2021 at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer at the age of 97. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers: Avery (Eleanor) Shold and Clifford (NelMae) Shold and one sister, Maxine (Jim) Nelson.
Roselyn is survived by her son and his wife, Mark and Romona Holmberg of Lakefield, MN; daughter and her husband, Marilyn and Glenn Biggar of Hartley, IA; 6 grandchildren: Ali Biggar, Castle Biggar, Kala Biggar, Andrew Holmberg, Hannah (Brooks) Szewczyk and Sarah Holmberg; other relatives and friends.
