Rosemary Edge Brown

Born in Emmetsburg, IA, in 1931, her family later moved to Spencer, IA, where her father owned and managed The Farmers Trust and Savings Bank. Preceded in death by her parents John W. Edge and Margaret L. Edge and brother Robert H. Edge, of Spencer, IA; and her husband, Capt. Woolson S. Brown, ret. USN. She is survived by her brothers Capt. Donald Edge, ret. USN of San Diego, CA, Kenneth Edge of Austin, TX and John Edge (Ann) of Baxter, IA; four children Scott Brown (Susan) of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Barbara Jimenez (John) of Palm Desert, CA, Gary Brown (Deborah) of Tampa, FL, and Betsy Christie (David) of Towong, Victoria, Australia; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. After graduating from Spencer High School in 1949, she met and married a dashing aviator from New England, becoming a career naval wife, mother and world traveler. The many places she called home included Florida, Texas, California, Maryland, Virginia, Hawaii, Australia, and then finally returning to Iowa, overlooking beautiful Lake Okoboji in the spring and summers while wintering in Palm Desert, CA. Throughout all her travels, she never lost her small town charm and had a special gift for gathering friends along the way, all of whom she deeply cherished. Her family wants to thank all of her dear friends for being a part of her life...for your smiles, your joy and your love. In lieu of a memorial service or flowers, her children ask you who have been a part of her journey, in remembrance of Rosemary, to go out and do something that will put a smile on your face: whether it be watching a football game (GO Hawkeyes!), breaking out a deck of cards (Bridge anyone?), playing a round of golf (hit the little ball, not the big one), meeting a friend for dinner (and drinks) or taking that trip you've been saying "someday" to. With loads of love to all, Rosie continues on to her next journey.
