Roy Newcomb, Jr.

Roy Newcomb, Jr., the son of Roy and Hazel (Howard), was born on May 10, 1930, in Webb, Iowa. The family moved to Spencer when Roy was young. He attended school in Spencer and graduated from Spencer High School. Following high school he attended Wayne State College for a short time. On July 11, 1951, he entered into the military serving in the U.S. Navy. He was honorably discharged on June 30, 1955. On November 13, 1971, Roy married Shirley Henaman in Las Vegas, NV. Following their marriage, the couple resided in Spencer. Roy worked at Superior MFG in the maintenance department. He then was a self-employed electrician in the area before working as a truck driver for Spencer Brokerage and Morton Buildings. Roy enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He liked to read western books and putting puzzles together, but most of all he enjoyed watching his grandkid's activities. He passed away on June 29, 2015, at Longhouse Residence in Spencer. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley in 2008; one son, Jeffrey Henamen; two daughters: Kathryn Reynolds and Lori Meyer; four sisters and three brothers. Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters: Melissa James of Tucson, AZ, Julie Holding (Joe) of Mason City, IA and Lynne Hefner (Rick) of Spencer, IA; two sons: Jon Henaman of Mason City, IA and Earl Henaman of Spencer, IA; 23 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
