Ruby Cuthbert

Ruby May Cuthbert, the daughter of Fred and Mable (Fabert) Dickason, was born on October 29, 1919, in Philo, IL. Ruby was raised in Arcola, IL, where she attended country school. Ruby married Ted Andrew Cuthbert on February 26, 1941, in Arcola, IL. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Texas and California, while Ted was serving in the military. In 1945, they moved to Sioux Rapids. Ruby enjoyed staying home and raising her children. When they started school, she worked as a clerk in the dime store for many years and then she worked for Superior Manufacturing in Albert City. Ruby was also very active in the First United Church in Sioux Rapids. She was involved in the Ladies Circle and she also taught Sunday school. She enjoyed riding horses and was involved in the Saddle Club in the early years of her marriage. In 1998, Ruby moved to Spencer, to be closer to her son, Terry. She loved to spend time with her family especially her grandchildren. Ruby passed away on November 1, 2009, at the Longhouse Residence in Spencer, at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ted in 1990; one brother, Lester Dickason and two sisters: Mildred Duncan and Adah Duncan. Left to cherish her memory are her two sons: Terry and his wife, Judy of Spencer, IA and Jerry of Des Moines, IA; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00p.m., Friday, November 6, 2009,at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.

VISITATION
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be at a later date in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids, Iowa
