Russell Bertrand Baumeister

Russell Bertrand Baumeister passed away Sunday, September 12, 2010 while enjoying the beach at his vacation home in St. Maarten. He was born on August 22, 1949, at the hospital in Hartley, IA to Don and Helen (Thorne) Baumeister. He was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist Church. Russ graduated from high school in Everly, IA, in 1967 where he enjoyed playing football which earned him a scholarship to Simpson College. He was an active member of the Waterford 4-H club for many years. After a year of college he joined the Air Force and after his training in San Antonio he was stationed in Okinawa for 2 1/2 years. He also spent 6 months in Thailand. After returning to the states he was stationed in Tacoma, WA and Great Falls, MT. After 13 1/2 years in the active service he spent several years in the reserves. After active duty, he moved to Billings, MT, where he married Sue Yaeger and his son Derek was born. On Aug. 16, 1986, Russ married Lloy Boggs and they had a son Brandon. Russ has been employed by the government in Billings, MT, Berkeley, CA, Washington D.C., and Las Vegas, NV. After retiring, he was hired by the Southern California Edison nuclear power plant near San Clemente, CA. Russ is preceded in death by his father Don, grandparents Bob and Dollie Thorne, Bill and Osa Baumeister. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Lloy Baumeister of Laguna Niguel, CA, two sons Derek Baumeister and Brandon Baumeister, a step-son Shane Gammon and wife Courtney, step-grandson Preston all of Las Vegas, NV, mother Helen Baumeister of Pharr, TX, sister Eileen Veum and husband Roger of Chaska, MN, brothers Randy Baumeister and wife Jerri of Ames, IA, and David Baumeister and wife Jean of Murdock, NE, and a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
SERVICES
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, September 20, 2010 at the Warner Funeral Home in Everly.
