Russell L. Jensen

Russell L. Jensen, the son of Albert 'Bert' and Constance 'Connie' Meisenbach Jensen, was born December 11, 1935 on the family farm rural Rolfe, Iowa. Russ received his early education and graduated from the Des Moines Township Country School in 1954. He then continued his education at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa. Russ entered the United States Air Force where he taught the pilots survival skills. Serving in Borneo, Okinawa, Philippines, Singapore, England and Newfoundland until his honorable discharge in 1960. Russ married Edna Ruth 'Tiny' Henderson on December 31, 1965 in Fairmont, MN. Following their marriage, they lived in Spencer, Iowa where they made their home. He worked for Sears, Montgomery Ward and Sherwin Williams for many years until his retirement in April of 1999. Russ enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping in their motorhome and gardening. He also loved cooking, archeology, and helping with the KIWANIS fish fry. He passed away at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg, Iowa on April 11, 2015 at the age of 79. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother, John Jensen and his brother-in-law, Pete Eeten. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter and her husband, Linda and Brian Fairchild; two granddaughters: Robin Fairchild and her fiance, Chris Ruckle of Minneapolis, MN and Kelli Ireland and her husband, Jake of Albert Lea, MN; one sister, Marjorie Eeten of Spencer, Iowa; one brother, Donald Jensen and his wife, Janice of Texas; other relatives and friends.
