Ruth Adeline Johnson, the daughter of Elmer and Gena (Forthun) Ness was born on August 12, 1925, in Ada, Minnesota. She grew up and attended county schools in the Ada area and in Hendrum, Minnesota in her teens.
Ruth married William “Frank” Johnson on February 12, 1942, in Ada, Minnesota. Shortly after their marriage, William entered the military and Ruth lived with Frank’s parents in Everly. When he returned from his military duty, they lived by Everly until 1969 when they moved to Spencer. She worked at several places over the years before she retired.
Ruth was a member of Langdon Methodist Church and involved in church circles. She enjoyed crocheting and made afghans for each of the children and grandchildren and was working on them for the great-grandchildren. After raising their children, she loved helping Frank on the farm and being on the tractor, as she said it was better than being inside doing housework. She would rather turn off the TV and pick up a book but did occasionally enjoy a good western.
Ruth passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at the Ruthven Care Center at the age of 96.
