Ruth Grace Petersen, the daughter of John and Blanche (Bowles) Albert was born January 18, 1919 in Primghar, IA. Her childhood years were spent in the Primghar area where she attended country school and graduated from Primghar High School in 1936.
Ruth married Jimmy Davis in June of 1941. They lived on Hickam Air Force Base, in Hawaii, during the Pearl Harbor attack. They moved back to Primghar where she ran a dress shop, called Fad’s & Fashions. Ruth married Alvin Petersen in 1949, until their divorce in 1963. She worked at Younkers and Dvergsten’s in Spencer, IA, she then worked for Stub Johnson at the Buggy Whip, as well as at his restaurants. She later worked as an office assistant for Dr. Edington.
Ruth enjoyed dancing, horses, and horse riding. She was involved in Saddle Club, Drill Team, and had great memories of trail riding in the Black Hills with her sister.
Ruth passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at the age of 99, at Longhouse Residence in Spencer, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Eva Leonard and most of her friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Diane (Frank) Mammen of Bloomington, MN; granddaughter Kimberlee Henningsen (John) of St Louis Park, MN; grandson Jason Mammen; great grandchildren Owen, Kallen and Bailey Henningsen and Jestin Mammen; a special niece, Judi Lorenz; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will take place 1:00 P.M., Monday, February 12, at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
