Ruth Helen Church

Ruth Helen Church, the daughter of John and Dagmar Christenson Anundson, was born April 10, 1921 in Volga, South Dakota. Her childhood years were spent in Volga where she received her early education and graduated from high school. On March 13, 1940, Ruth married Harvey S. Church. Following their marriage, they lived in the communities of Volga, SD, Madison, S.D. where they owned and operated a Trucking and Cab Company until 1965, they then moved to Florida and Ruth owned and operated a Cab Company there until moving to Spencer in 1997. While living in Spencer, she resided at Sunset Apartments where she enjoyed lining up several social events, Hillside Terrace and recently, St. Luke Lutheran Home. Ruth was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer and was active in the Elizabeth Circle. In her spare time, Ruth enjoyed knitting and doing crafts. On November 17, 2006, Ruth passed away at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harvey on November 25, 1987; one daughter, Audrey Ann; infant sister and one brother, Allen. Ruth is survived by her three daughters and their husbands: Bonnie and Jerry Axtell and Judy Gilman and Ray Davis all of Spencer and Becky and Bob Gagnon of Florida; two sons: Norm Church of Florida and John Church and his wife, Jean of Kentucky; 14 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Anundson of Columbus, OH; one sister, Annabelle Van Camp of Flint, MI; other relatives and friends.
