Ruth Jean Prentice

Ruth Jean Wulkow, daughter of Richard and Augusta (Peters) Wulkow, recently of Milford, Iowa and longtime rural Terril resident, passed away on March 22, 2017. Born January 29, 1926 at Rockwell City, Iowa, Ruth spent her younger years as a farm girl near Lytton, Iowa. She attended parochial school at St Peter's Church, rural Sac City, Iowa & later attended upper grades at Lytton High School. Robert Prentice & Ruth Wulkow were married in 1944 and five children were born to this union. In their early married life, Bob & Ruth moved to Terril, Iowa to continue their farming endeavors. Ruth was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, serving there as Sunday School and Bible School teacher & Ladies Aid member & officer. Ruth also served as a 4-H leader. She worked at Berkley's for a number of years and she was also Registrar for the International Fainting Goat Association. Bob & Ruth enjoyed hosting the VIP section at the Jackson Races & Ruth also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, doing word search & fill-in puzzles, and visiting with her friends and family. She always had a joke ready to tell her doctors and perhaps that helped her cope with her many injuries over the years. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Delmar Wulkow, her husband Bob, a son, Paul Robert, a granddaughter, Jeana Kelp, grandsons Eric Prentice, Brian Prentice, and great-grandson Cameron Paddock. She is survived by her daughter Judy (Larry) Kelp, Terril, Iowa and her sons Richard (Becky) Prentice, Spencer, Iowa, Craig (Cindy) Prentice, Terril, Iowa, and Keith (Donna) Prentice, Terril, Iowa. Also grandchildren: Robb (Laura) Kelp, Kevin (Christa) Kelp, Hope Prentice, Bill Prentice, Heather (Mike) Paddock, Holly (Chuck) Hobart, Heath (Jenn) Prentice, Stephanie (Chuck) Berg, & Greg (Mindy) Prentice & Great-grandchildren: Liz Doppenberg, Alex Doppenberg, Brennon Prentice, Peyton Paddock, Dori Paddock, Will Hobart, Porter Prentice, Jonathan Berg, Trentyn Berg, Michael Berg, Josie Berg, Deacon Rutledge, Logan Prentice, & Tate Prentice. Ruth is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Flossie Wulkow, Helen Joyce Therriault, & Evelyn Prentice, along with cousins & many other relatives & friends.
