Ruth Lavonne Roskens, the daughter of Arthur and Stella (Lawson) Olson, was born October 30, 1926 in Mountain Lake, MN. She grew up in the Jackson, Minnesota area and later Spencer, Iowa, where she received her education.
Ruth married Evert Ed Roskens on February 10, 1949 in Everly, Iowa. Following their marriage, they made their home in Spencer, where Evert operated his contracting company and Ruth took care of her family. She was a member of Hope Reformed Church in Spencer. Ruth was also an active member of the VFW, the Eagle's, a club called the Kitchen Band and the "Bowling Association".
She passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Friday, June 5, 2009 at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Evert on April 17, 1997; four sisters: Dorothy Nielsen, Leota Felton, Lucille Karsnik and Bernice Olson and three brothers: Don, Clifford and Ras Olson.
Left to cherish her memory are one son, Dennis Roskens and his special friend, Deb of Hartley; three daughters: Diane and her husband, Dennis of Wahpeton, IA, Dalene Hart of Indianola, IA and Darla Dotson and her husband, Ron of Lorena, TX; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; three sisters: Letha Wolcott and her husband, Don of Gillett Grove, IA, Gwen Klinefelter of Peterson, IA and Winona Recher of Spirit Lake, IA; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M., Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Hope Reformed Church in Spencer.
