Ruth Mary Rogness

Ruth Mary Letsche was born August 26, 1918 in Remsen, Iowa to Martin and Frieda (Schmidt) Letsche. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Marcus, Iowa. Ruth later graduated from Remsen High School at age 16 and attended Westmar College in LeMars, Iowa. Ruth was married to Ruben Rogness of Ossian, Iowa on August 10, 1940 in Marcus, Iowa. Ruth taught in the Iowa school system for 29 years in Royal, Iowa. She was nominated for teacher of the year. Following her retirement in 1979, Ruth spent her time in various volunteer pursuits as well as visiting her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in England and Alaska. She was an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Ruth passed away on November 15, 2007 at Dove House Hospice in Westminster, Maryland at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 20 days. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben; her parents; two sisters: Emma and Faye and four brothers: Roland, Paul, Roy and Harold. Left to cherish her memory are her one son, Daniel and his wife, Kati of Anchorage, AK; her two daughters: Joan Graen and her husband, Noel of Finksburg, MD and Joyce Brawner and her husband, Harold of Anchorage, AK; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at the Bethlehem Luheran Church, Royal, Iowa.
