Sadie Victoria Herrig

Sadie Victoria Herrig, the daughter of Emil Rydberg and Alma Salmonson was born on April 19, 1910 in Arthur, Iowa. She was raised and received her early education attending country school in Arthur. Sadie graduated from high school in Ida Grove in 1927. After graduation during the depression, she was employed by the Adams Ranch in Odebolt until 1934. Sadie married Henry Herrig on February 28, 1934, at the Lutheran Church in Wall Lake, Iowa. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Odebolt, Arthur areas before moving to a dairy farm in Schaller. In 1946, the couple moved to Sioux Rapids and purchased the International Harvester Dealership. In 1972, they retired and moved to Okoboji, where they made their home and spent 18 years wintering in Texas. In 1992, they moved to the Highlands in Spencer. While living at Okoboji, Sadie and Hank entertained hundreds of guests by taking them on a relaxing and sometimes unrelaxing boat rides. Sadie was a charter member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids, a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Spencer. Sadie was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at the Spencer Hospital on July 10, 2011, at the age of 101. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry in 1997; her son Richard; her son-in-law, Ronald Johnson; three brothers: Harry, Ralph and Joe Rydberg; four sisters: Ruth Neville, Ethel Buehler, Hazel Johnson and Evelyn Sacquety. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters: Mary Johnson of Bingham Lake, MN and Margaret Jaeckel of Council Bluffs, IA; one son, Henry and his wife, Teri of LeMars, IA; nine grandchildren: Lynn Brandt, Tom Herrig, Kim Adamson, Todd Herrig, Elise Allen, Heidi Isley, Marcia Batchelder, Paige Herrig and Brent Herrig; nineteen great grandchildren: Tyler, Courtney, Sidney, Bailey, Presley, Trey, Grant, Caden, Brady, Reagan, John, Max, Will, Henry, Vivian, Lindsey, Laura, Caitlin and Chanah; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30a.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Spencer.

Visitation will begin after 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00p.m., Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
