Sally Joan Baschke

Sally Joan Baschke was born June 23, 1936 to Glenn Theodore and Dorothy Magelena Heick Sorenson in Spencer, IA. She was raised on the home farm northeast of Spencer and attended Meadow #7 Country School, all her elementary years. She attended Spencer High School and graduated 3rd in her class in 1954. She began work for Equitable Life of Iowa following graduation and worked there 10 years. She stayed home 10 years and then worked at the Clay County Auditor's office for 2 years, the ISU Area Extension Office in Spencer for 11 years and the Dickinson County Extension Office for 24 years. She retired in 2000. Sally had been a 4-H member all the years during her childhood and continued to work with 4-H the last 25 years of her working years. On her retirement from Dickinson County she was made an honorary member of the Iowa Great Lakes Navy. She and Walter Edward Stukey were married on August 28, 1955 in Spencer and made their home on her grandparents farm northeast of Spencer. They adopted a son, Bennett Oliver. They later divorced. While working Sally was a member of the Business and Professional Women and also the Farm Bureau club Do It Better in Meadow Township. Jim L. Baschke and Sally were married on July 11, 1975 in Jackson, MN. They lived on his farm east of Milford, IA, where Jim farmed and worked for John Morrell plus other jobs. They moved to their present home in July of 2000. Sally enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crafts, crossword puzzles and playing on her computer. After moving to town in 2000, she took care of her two granddaughters before and after school and they had a great time together. Sally was preceded in death by her parents, her younger sister Barbara Atkins and her husband Tom Atkins, one granddaughter Melissa and both sets of grandparents. Left to mourn her passing are her husband Jim of 37 years, one son, Bennett Stukey, 5 grandchildren, Brady Eyestone, Evan Mason, Tessa and Collin Stukey and their mother Lisa, 2 stepdaughters and families, Cindy (Mark) Nordstrom, Justin, Cori and Kyle Nordstrom; Judy (Ben) Kilgore, Abby and Anna And one stepson, Roger (Ann) Baschke, Brooke and Bradi. One sister, Marilyn (Bill) Baca from Pueblo, CO, and one brother, Richard (Mary) Sorenson, from Monmouth, OR. One sister-in-law, Karen Woodford and on brother-in-law Robert Baschke and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will take place 10:30 A.M.,Tuesday, November 27, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.

VISITATION
Visitation will take place Monday, November 26, at Warner Funeral Home in Spencer starting at 5:00 P.M., with the family present from 5-7:00 P.M. A Catholic Vigil Service will take place 5:00 P.M., Monday, November 26, at Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
