Our wife and mother, Saundra Faye Rogers Newcomb, was the daughter of Earl and Francis Stowe Rogers. She was born June 26, 1938 in Worthington, Minnesota. Her childhood years were spent with her mother and sister in Denison and Spencer, Iowa. She graduated from Spencer High School in 1956. Mom attended Cosmetology school in Sioux City, Iowa.
Mom married her high school sweetheart, Robert 'Nuke' Newcomb, on January 19, 1958 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. After that, Mom and Dad made their home briefly in Spencer. They moved to Dickens, followed by a farm near Gillett Grove. In 1973, they found the perfect area in Greenville to settle into and raise their children. They have been there since.
Mom began her career as a hair designer for Larson's Beauty Salon in 1957. In 1979, Larson's burned down and Mom went to work for Regis where she stayed until 2000. Mom continued to grow her business with A Cut Above until her retirement in 2005.
Mom was city clerk for Greenville for many years. She enjoyed her service with the Greenville Congregational Church where she and Dad are members.
Mom had a passion for life and lived everyday to the fullest. She enjoyed reading, traveling, sewing, scrapbooking, calligraphy and collecting angels. Above all else, Mom's biggest love was her family. She will be remembered and cherished as wife, mom and grandma. We will miss her hugs, her kisses, her cooking and her wisdom.
Mom conquered her valiant fight on March 06, 2007, at the age of 68. She was welcomed to heaven with open arms by Jesus, her parents and her granddaughter, Jacklynn.
She is survived by the love of her life, Bob, and her children: Brent Newcomb and his wife, Nancy; Brian Newcomb and his wife, Tonya; Colleen and her husband, Jeff Madson; Joey and her husband, Rusty Brownlee; and her most precious gifts of all, her grandchildren: Beau, Brent II 'Bubba', Chelsey, Casaundra, Brady, Amanda, Kaitlynn, Megan, Emma, Jordan, Colton, Nick, Conner, Cade, Brennen, and Sammy; her sister and best friend JoAnn, along with many relatives and friends.
'How will our children know who they are if they don't know where they came from?'
