Sharon Ann Knudtson

April 1, 1955 — April 23, 2019

Fostoria

Sharon Ann Knudtson, the daughter of Leonard and Betty (Hanson) Beckmann, was born on April 1, 1955 in Pender, NE.  Her parents raised her in Bancroft, NE where she attended elementary, middle and high school.  During the summers as a child, and carrying on the tradition with her own daughters, she would travel to Minnesota to visit family.  After graduation, she moved to Spencer, and attended the Spencer School of Business.  She first worked at Spencer Foods and A.A.L.F.S.  Later she became a proud employee of Eaton’s for 30 years.  She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and also the Catholic Daughters, and was a dedicated volunteer.

She and her husband, Jeff, lived in Fostoria. Sharon was a supportive wife, loving mother, stepmother and grandmother, and a truly compassionate human being.  She always made sure holidays and birthdays were extra special for her daughters, with an extra special treat for dinner at Mrs. Lady's.  Sharon was an incredible friend and would make sure everyone else was taken care of before thinking of herself.  Every year before Christmas she would collect the pop cans from Eaton's, and then she and her daughters would use the return money to purchase groceries and supplies for Upper Des Moines.  Her caring spirit was something to be admired and can be an example to all. It became an anticipated annual tradition to make a special trip to the Omaha Zoo with her daughters and grandkids.  She and Jeff would take the grandkids camping during their summer breaks from school.  Sharon enjoyed sewing, gardening, attending craft fairs with her friend, Karen, and going to the Clay County Fair every year.  She was unbelievable in the kitchen.  Her canning skills were very impressive (and she was a willing teacher :) but many people who knew her were also lucky recipients of her delicious desserts.   Her personal favorite was Pecan Pie.  But most of all she loved to spend time with her grandchildren.  Sharon was a very strong person, a fighter both in character and spirit, and she will be greatly missed.

Sharon passed away on April 23, 2019 at the Spencer Hospital, surrounded by her family.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Shirley Hall.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jeff of Fostoria, IA; her daughters: Rachel Neeman of Spencer, IA and Erica (Matt) Janssen of Emmetsburg, IA; her three stepsons: Justin (Ann) Knudtson of Waterloo, IA, Brian Knudtson of Iowa City, IA and Brody (Kari) Knudtson of Independence, IA; her stepdaughter, Kari (Tony) Rossetti of Mt.
