Sharon Kay Clausen, the daughter of William and Alava Dorsey, was born November 29, 1939, in Estherville, IA. Sharon received her teaching degree at Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls, IA; she then received her Master’s and graduated from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, IA. Sharon taught 2nd grade in Kingsley, and when Sharon and Larry moved to Spencer, Sharon started substitute teaching for many years.
On June 17, 1961, Sharon was united in marriage to Larry Dean Clausen in Swea City, IA. Following their marriage, they lived in Marshalltown until moving to Spencer where they have resided. To this union, three children were born: Greg, Gary and Gayle.
Sharon was a member of First Baptist Church in Spencer and enjoyed attending and helping with the Social Committee and various other committees. She loved to sell Avon as she got the chance to sit down with people and just talk. She liked to bowl, garden, and loved to read books. Sharon especially loved spending time with her three granddaughters which were her world. Sharon was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her first great-grandchild.
Sharon passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at the age of 78. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and her mother and father-in-law.
She is survived by her husband, Larry; two sons: Greg (Danielle) and Gary; her daughter, Gayle (Chad); three granddaughters: Haley (Ryan), Holly and Mandi; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, June 7, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Spencer.
