Sheryl Lee Anderson, the daughter of Raymond & Clarice (Johnson) Nation, was born on May 29, 1941 at Ft.
Dodge, Iowa. She was baptized & confirmed in the Lutheran Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Marathon for 57 years.
On December 6, 1959, Sheryl was united in marriage to Larry Lynn Anderson at the Grace Lutheran Church in Marathon, IA. They are the parents of 2 children: Sheri Lynne of Burlington, VT and Bradley Alan of Marathon, IA.
Sheryl lived in the communities of Slater, Badger, Dakota City, Thor, Goldfield, Corning, Marathon and Spencer. She graduated from Marathon High School in 1959. She worked at Bander's Life Insurance Co in Des Moines and the Citizen's State Bank in Marathon. Sheryl was a co-owner of a restaurant, The Charger Inn in Laurens, IA with Bev Wesselink for 6 years. She was a partner with her husband in their fertilizer business for 20 years & in their farming business for 40 years. She also worked at HyVee as a cake decorator for 8 years. She decorated cakes out of her home for many years, providing special cakes for many people including Senator Howard Hughes. Sheryl retired in 2002. After moving to Spencer, she became an active volunteer at the Spencer Hospital.
Sheryl was active in the United Methodist Church, serving on the Administrative Board as Chairman for 8 years, UMW officer, circle leader, Sunday school Superintendent, Sunday school teacher, choir member & Jr. Choir director for 12 years. Sheryl loved music & enjoyed singing in the trio for 25 years with her sister, Janet & friend, Caryl Dukes. She loved reading books, writing poetry and her most special times were when she was doing things with her 5 granddaughters, whom she absolutely adored.
Survivors include her daughter, Sheri & her husband, Jim Jordan of Burlington, VT, son, Brad & his wife, Candy of Marathon, IA; granddaughters: Chelsey (Mark) Feauto, Ashley (Brett) Gathman, Briana & her boyfriend, Mak Kloewer, Brandy & BrookLynn; 2 sisters & their husbands: Mary & Roger Bender of Wilton, IA & Candy & Gary Moore of Mason, City, IA; a brother-in-law, Gaylon Anderson of Laurens, IA; one brother, Lee (Eileen) Nation of Spirit Lake, IA and a host of other friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry Anderson; her brother, Jeff and her sister, Janet.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Living Word Outreach Ministry Praise Team.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will be 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, June 29, at the Marathon Community Center.
