Shirley Faye Hicks

Shirley Faye Hicks, the daughter of Marvin and Faye (Eiler) Piklapp was born September 2, 1945, in Lynch, NE. Her childhood years were spent in the Lynch, NE, area, where she attended Monowi and Freemont schools, until moving to Sioux City where she graduated from high school. Shirley married Lester Hicks on June 8, 1966, in Elk Point, SD. They moved to Spencer, IA, in 1976. She worked for Hy-Line for 30 years. She enjoyed fishing, crossword puzzles and spending time together with family. Shirley passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at the Spencer Hospital in Spencer, IA, at the age of 68. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Virgil Sherman. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Lester of Spencer, IA; 3 children, Tim (Jody) Hicks of Roland, IA, Tania Sirry of Wichita, KS, and Loren (Amber) Hicks of Spencer, IA; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Ronald (Kathy) Piklapp of Vertagree, NE, Mike Piklapp of Vertagree, NE, and Kelly (Lisa) Piklapp of Garner, IA; 2 sisters, Leslie Sherman of Yankton, SD and Jeri (Harold) Green of Phoenix, AZ; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
