Shirley Josephine Struve

Shirley Josephine Struve, the daughter of Engold and Sigrid (Simonsen) Mortenson, was born October 11, 1921 in Webb, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in the Webb area, where she received her education, graduating from Webb High School. Shirley married Delmar Struve on May 24, 1941 in Storm Lake, IA. After their marriage, her husband spent time overseas during WWII, while she remained in Webb. Following his discharge, they moved to the Webb and Gillett Grove area. Later, they moved to Everly, where they farmed for many years. She was a member of the Everly United Methodist Church. Shirley also volunteered at the Senior Citizen Center. She enjoyed gardening in her leisure time. Mrs. Struve passed away at Northshire Residence in Spencer, Iowa on Monday, June 28, 2010 at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Shannon Kluender; her husband, Delmar on March 19, 1998; two sisters: Joanne Lewis and Ellen Basinger; two brothers: Harris and Lawrence and Larry's friend, Mary Peterson. Left to cherish her memory are three daughters: Carole Ann Kluender and her husband, Robert of Hartley, IA, Edith Erickson and her husband, Carl of Albert City, IA and LuAnne Ginger and her friend, Irwin Van Veldhuizen of Sanborn, IA; two sons: Larry Struve of Spencer, IA and Delbert Struve and his wife, Donna of Hartley, IA; 15 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; three brothers: James Mortenson of Terril, IA, Robert Mortenson of Emmetsburg, IA and Keith Mortenson of Spencer, IA; other relatives and friends.
