Shirley Tielbur

Shirley Ann Tielbur, the daughter of Donald and Luwyna (Fertig) Madsen, was born on April 8, 1932, in Des Moines, IA. She moved to Storm Lake as a young child where she was raised and attended school until she graduated from Storm Lake High School. Shirley married Frank Tielbur on November 7, 1953, in Storm Lake. To this union three children were born. She started working for the telephone company until she moved to Spencer where she made her permanent home. While living in Spencer, she continued to work briefly for the phone company. She worked for Sears as a retail sales clerk for several years and then finished her employment at A & M Laundry before retiring. Shirley was a member of the Eagle's Club. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, was an avid reader of Agatha Christie books and enjoyed having coffee with her friends. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family and especially being involved with her grandchildren. Shirley passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2011, at Longhouse Residence at the age of 79. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Donald Madsen. Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Douglas Tielbur and his wife, Janet of Marshfield, WI, Julie Mears and her husband, Robert of Spencer, IA and Michael Tielbur and Barb of Early, IA; 5 grandchildren: Brandon Goff, Nick Tielbur, Matthew Tielbur, Bob Mears and Jess Altenberg; 6 great- grandchildren; one sister, Allison Hayes of Boxford, MA; other relatives and friends.
