Steven Eugene Nissen, the son of Harold and Gladys (Johnson) Nissen was born August 28, 1951 in Spencer, IA. His childhood years were spent in Spencer, IA, where he attended school and graduated from Spencer High School in 1969. Steve married the love of his life, Patricia Feller on September 5, 1970 in Granville, IA. Steve and Pat went on to raise 4 children in Spencer, IA.
In his early years he worked construction for multiple companies. The majority of his working years he was head of maintenance for The Hotel. While working at The Hotel, Steve decided to open his own business, Last Call Ride Service. Steve loved meeting and talking to all of the customers and sharing his adventures with family, until he decided to retire. Steve enjoyed playing fastpitch softball as a pitcher for Spencer Budweiser in the 70’s & 80’s, where his team made it to the National Softball Tournament in Stockton California in 1979. Steve went on to give pitching lessons in his free time. He enjoyed going for morning coffee with his buddies at American Classic Café, watching his favorite football team, The Minnesota Vikings, attending his grandkids activities, and spoiling his dog Lily.
Steve passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at his home in Spencer, IA, at the age of 73. He was preceded in death by his parents; Brothers;: Denny (Mollie), Ronnie, Greg, and Dave Nissen; and a Nephew: Brett Nissen.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Pat Nissen of Spencer, IA; Children, Scott (Terrie) Nissen of Spencer, IA, Dawn Nissen (Jesse) of Spencer, IA, Stacy Hinton of Sioux Falls, SD, and Tim (CharlyRae) Nissen of Sioux Falls, SD; Grandchildren: Mariah (Patrick) Leach, Kendra Nissen, Brendon Nissen, Alex Gorton, Zack Nissen, Jensen Hinton, and Madalynn Cech; Sisters: Dori Beck and Delores Koehlmoos; Sisters in-law: Robbin Nissen and Vickie Nissen; along with many more relatives and friends.
*In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Steve's name. The family would also like to encourage everyone to wear Minnesota Vikings attire to the gathering.
