Steven Henry Brons

Spencer

       Steven Henry Brons, fourth child of Betty (Schmidt) and Henry Brons, was born in Sheldon, Iowa on August 13, 1955.  He grew up in northwest Iowa and graduated from Terril High School in 1973. 

       Steven served his country with the United States Navy.  He joined the Navy on October 23, 1973 and reported to Orlando, Florida for basic training.  He was stationed at Point Magu, California, Antarctic Development Squadron SIX as a Personnelman and Air Crewman.  Steven was honorably discharged from the Navy in August of 1998 as a Sergeant E-5, Battery A, 1st Battalion, 194th Field Artillery.

       From 1985 - 1987 he attended Southwest Technical College in Jackson, Minnesota.  He graduated with Honors in July of 1987 in the Technology Program.  From 1988 - 1991 he earned a Major in Electronics Engineering Technology with a minor in Computer Science from Southwest State University in Marshall, Minnesota.  He graduated Cum Laude on May 25, 1991.  From 1992 - 1993 he attended South Dakota State University receiving a 3.40 point average in Pre-Pharmacy.

       Steve worked in various jobs utilizing his computer skills while going to school and then worked as a Lead Slot Technician at Jackpot Junction Casino in Morton, Minnesota and later in the Chicago area.  Within the last few years Steve moved to Spencer, Iowa where he purchased a home close to his mother and also worked part-time at Menards.

  Steve had a great passion for collectibles:  books, stamps and comic books, but his greater interest was in collecting rare coins and currency.

       Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Betty (Dick) Schmidt of Spencer, Iowa; four sisters: Avis (Jim) Rinsem of Glenwood, MN, Nancy Owens of Colorado Springs, CO, Janice Williams of Montrose, CO, and Brenda (Darrell) Martin of Polk City, IA; one brother, Douglas (Dorothy) Brons of Royal, IA; step brother, Brent Schmidt and family of Spencer, IA; stepsister, Mary Kay Schmidt of Alexandria, VA; nine nieces and four great-nieces and nephews.  Preceding him in death was his father, Henry Brons and his nephew Michael Williams.

SERVICES
Memorial Services will be 10:30 A.M, Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.

Military Services will be conducted by the American Legion  - Glen Pedersen Post #1 and the V.F.W. Clay County Post #3159

Following the services at the funeral home there will be a lunch served at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer.
