Steven Leroy Birchard

Steven LeRoy Birchard, the son of Ralph LeRoy and Clara Lorraine Tuttle Birchard, was born February 11, 1949 in Spencer, Iowa. Steve received his early education and graduated from the Spencer High School in 1968. Following his schooling, Steve entered the United States Air Force on July 18, 1968 serving during Vietnam until his Honorable Discharge on May 22, 1970. He then returned to Spencer where he worked for Spencer Cab and also A & M Laundry in Spencer. Steve was united in marriage to Vickie Rogers on August 6, 1979. Although they divorced after nine years, they remained friends until Vickie's death. In his spare time, Steve enjoyed doing wood carvings and wood burning, he also liked to fish, sporting events and he especially enjoyed family times. On January 26, 2017, Steve passed away at Spencer Hospital at the age of 67. He is preceded in death by his father, Ralph Birchard; wife, Vickie Rogers Birchard; grandparents; aunts and uncles and cousins. Steve is survived by his mother, Lorraine Birchard of Spencer, IA; one sister, Jeannie (Larry) DeGraaf of St. Cloud, MN; 3 brothers: David (Evelyn) Birchard of Branson, MO, Rodney (Julie) Birchard of Spencer, IA and Edward (Tammy) Birchard of Ruthven, IA; 11 nieces and nephews; 19 great nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew; other relatives and many friends.
