Steven Lyle Langholz, 51, of Spencer, Iowa passed away peacefully in the loving embrace of his family at his side at Spencer Municipal Hospital on June 10, 2007.
Steve was born Octoer 8, 1955 in Primghar, Iowa, the son of Lyle and Marlys (Camarigg) Langholz, the 4th of 8 children. He was raised in rural Primghar and graduated from Primghar High School in 1974. He attended Pipestone Area Vocational Technical Center in Pipestone, Minnesota for Meat cutting/Market management graduating in 1986.
He married Teri Griep on Juine 23, 1984 in Sioux City, Iowa. Although they later divorced, they remained lifelong trusted friends.
Steven was a unique man. He had a zest for life and loved people. Everything was an adventure to him. He enjoyed the outdoors, loved to live by his own wits, had a passion for work, and loved to laugh. There was never a job he couldn't or wasn't willing to do. He loved animals and for a time proudly raised purebred Labrador retrievers. Steve possessed the gift of gab, a quick wit, and an infectious smile and laugh. He easily made friends and could coax a grin out of anyone. Steven was a deeply spiritual man. He had a tremendously generous and tender heart. He cared intensely for those that he loved and showed it often by helping out in whatever way he could. He never missed an opportunity to help someone in need.
He is survived by his mother, Marlys Langholz, of Spencer, Iowa; three sisters: Patsy Martin and her husband, Michael of Phoenix, AZ, Mary Jo Valentine and her husband, Coit, of Colorado, and Lori Lynn Ahrend and her husband, Kirk of Council Bluffs, IA; four brothers: Ricky Langholz of Paullina, IA, Mark Langholz and his wife, Sue of Spencer, IA, Neil Langholz and his wife, April of Flagstaff, Arizona, and Eric Langholz of Spencer, Iowa; three nieces: Autumn Langholz of Minneapolis, MN, tammi Langholz of Sioux Falls, SD and Ashley Langholz of Denver, CO; five nephews: Shane Langholz of Milford, IA, Tosten Langholz of Fostoria, IA, Travis Langholz, of Spencer, Iowa, and PJ and Michael Tikippe of Council Bluffs, IA; and his former wife, Teri of Sioux City, IA.
