Steven R. Patten

Steven Ray Patten, the son of William and Neoma (Fleming) Patten, was born August 6, 1953 in Buena Vista County, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Sioux Rapids, where he received his education graduating from Storm Lake High School in 1973. Steve married Norma Jean Patten on August 5, 1989 in Storm Lake, IA. After their marriage, they lived in Storm Lake until moving to Spencer, Iowa in 1990, where they have lived ever since. Steve Patten touched the lives of many people. You all will remember him in your own way. He liked to go to Main Street Cafe for coffee every morning. He loved working at the Clay County Fair, where he worked for about 20 years. He liked playing games on his computer, watching cartoons with his grandkids, Dallas & Mackenzie and playing bingo. Steve enjoyed watching wrestling, the Kansas City Chiefs and his favorite NASCAR driver was Jimmy Johnson #48. He never missed a race or a Kansas City Chief's football game on TV. We will all miss him in our own way. He passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Monday, December 8, 2014 at the age of 61. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sheila Patten. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jean of Spencer; his stepdaughter, Kelly Dillard & her husband, Robert Dillard of Spencer & their two children: Dallas & Mackenzie and stepdaughter, Michelle Miller & her husband, Gary Miller of Spencer & their children: Alex Miller & Samantha Miller; one stepson, Travis Lavine of Omaha, NE; one great grandchild; Zoey; other relatives and friends.
