Susan Kay Brennan

    Susan (Sue) Kay Brennan, Spencer IA passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband, Billy her beloved dog, Mira and other family on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 62.

     Susan was born March 9^th, 1961, to Jack D. and Phyllis J. (Snyder) Krusenstjerna in Sioux City IA.  She primarily grew up in Spencer and graduated from Spencer Senior High School in 1980.  Growing up, Sue was active in youth group church activities, choir, drama & track.  She loved working at the Clay County Fair for many years whether it be working in the grandstand for events or displaying her crafts she worked on throughout the year.   While in high school, Sue worked at the Spencer Municipal Hospital and continued working there after high school and for Super Valu grocery store.  Sue was blessed with her children: Matthew, Amanda, and Jackson from her first marriage.

    Sue furthered her education and graduated from Iowa Lakes Community College/Buena Vista and earned her degree in social sciences before uniting in marriage to William (Billy) Brennan) on August 19, 2011. The couple had dated in high school as friends but nothing to serious. When Billy moved to Iowa from Arizona, he looked her up and they began dating again, eventually getting married. 

      Sue loved helping others and had a beautiful kind, genuine, caring heart and had many friends. Together she and Billy adopted a puggle named MiraCale, which she dearly loved and gave her much comfort. 

     She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; sister, Barbara; her brother-in-law, Kelly Monthei; aunts; uncles and cousins. 

     Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Billy of Spencer, IA; her children: Matthew Durst of Spencer, IA, Amanda Durst of Spirit Lake IA and Jackson Durst of Spencer, IA; her sister, Christine (Dave) White of   Wetumpka AL, Mary Monthei of Worthington, MN; her nieces; sisters-in-law and dearest friends.
