April 8, 1960 — December 31, 2018

San Miguel de Allende

Susan Lee Decker, the daughter of Alvena and Ray Koehnk, was born on April 8, 1960 in Hartley, IA. She grew up in Everly, IA and graduated from Everly Community High School in 1978. After graduation she attended the University of Iowa and later lived in Houston, TX, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Asheville, NC and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico where she passed away on December 31, 2018.

Susan was proud to be an Everly High School Cattlefeeder and was a fierce competitor on the softball field and basketball court. She was passionate about her artistic and creative endeavors and developed a successful career as an independent graphic artist.

In 1986, she gave birth to her only son, Travis, who was the light of her life.

Susan loved to travel and to meet people from around the world. In 2014 she moved to an artist community in Mexico with her beloved pet companion “Mojo”. There, she quickly made new friends and enjoyed the local festivals and mariachi bands.

Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Alvena Koehnk of Hartley, IA, her son Travis Decker of New York City, her brother, Scott (Diane) Koehnk of St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands, and her nieces Anna Koehnk of Philadelphia, PA and Mary Koehnk of Santa Cruz, CA.
