Susanne Lee Weaver

Susanne Lee Weaver, the daughter of Silas and Doris (Fredenburg) Steele was born February 16, 1941 in Cherokee, IA. Her childhood years were spent in the Sutherland, IA area where she attended country school, before graduating from Sutherland Consolidated High School. Susanne married Douglas Weaver at the Church Of Christ in Sutherland, IA, on August 2, 1959. She was a stay-at-home wife and mother of 4 boys. She enjoyed music, family picnics at Dog Creek Lake, walks with her mother, attending the O'Brien County Fair, family weekends to Minnesota Twins games and vacations to Tennessee. She was very involved in attending activities for her sons as well as her grandchildren. She was a member of the Sutherland School Board and NCC Board of Trustees, Calumet Women's Club, Church Of Christ in Sutherland and a Share Group youth leader in church for many years. Susanne passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014, at the age of 73 at the Sutherland Care Center in Sutherland, IA. She was preceded in death by her father Silas; and one brother, Tim Steele. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Douglas of Sutherland, IA; 4 sons, Mark (Stephanie Gordon) Weaver of Grimes, IA, Grant (Wendy) Weaver of Kingsley, IA, Eric (Christine) Weaver of Story City, IA, and Wade (Sheila) Weaver of Sutherland, IA; 13 grandchildren, Caitlin, Colin, Susannah, Olivia, K.C., Corbin, Grant David, Sean, Matthew, Sydney, Susie, Andrew and John Weaver; her mother Doris, of Sutherland; 1 sister, Virginia (Richard) Moorhouse of Mountain City, TN, 4 brothers, Phil (Maggie) of Webb City, MO, Tom (Helen) Steele of Sutherland, IA, Steve (Mary) Steele of Spencer, IA and Keith (Vaunda) Logan of Willard, MO.; other relatives and many friends. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Susanne's name to be used for the Sutherland Church of Christ youth programs.
