Terry Elwyn Letcher, the son of Elwyn (Bud) and Dorothy Rohlin Letcher, was born in Buffalo Center, Iowa on March 1, 1949. He received his early education there and graduated from Buffalo Center High School in 1967. Terry loved the sport of football, and in 1966, he became the first Buffalo Center High School player to be named to the first team All State squad. Terry attended North Iowa Community in Mason City, where he also excelled in football, and later helped coach the NIACC team.
From his early childhood on, Terry enjoyed all outdoor activities. He enjoyed visiting his grandparents and spending time fishing and trapping. He loved working on cars and tractors in his grandpa's repair shop. Terry had a knack for anything mechanical and could fix or design almost anything. He had helped create many things, from homes to highways. Truly a "Jack of all trades", but a sawyer at heart.
Terry was a loyal and true friend to many people from all walks of life, and he loved all his family very much.
Terry passed away on December 1, 2006, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, at the age of 57. His mother, Dorothy, preceded him in death on November 30, 1987.
He is survived by his father: Elwyn and his wife, Ann of Spencer, IA; three sons: Jon and his daughters, Skylar and Jiana of Omaha, NE and James and Karla of Omaha, NE and Terel of Faribault, MN; two brothers: Steve and Nancy of Milford, IA and Brad of Andover, MN; one sister, Kaelynn and Bob Gould of rural Spencer, IA; and many relatives and friends.
