Theodore "Ted" Marvin Mincer, age 84 of Bella Vista, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, October 2nd at Northwest Medical Center surrounded by family. Ted was born November 26, 1934 to Orlo and Winnie Mincer in Spencer, Iowa.
He graduated from Spencer High School in May of 1952. On February 5, 1954, Ted enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country on various submarines as an operating electrician. He was honorable discharged December 4, 1957. Coming home on one of his leaves in 1954 he met his beloved wife, Shirley at the Spencer, Iowa skating rink. They were married September 26, 1956. Ted farmed until 1968 and then sold health and life insurance until he retired in 1989. He loved watching sports and playing golf. His love for golf brought him to Bella Vista. As a farmer he couldn’t understand “what those idiots were doing chasing a white ball around the field.”
Ted had a way of making every stranger feel like a friend. He will be forever remembered for his sense of humor, warm smile and loving heart. Ted may have been small in stature but his kindness and thoughtfulness for everyone and his love and dedication to his family made him a giant of a man. He had a strong love for the Lord and was a member of Bella Vista Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law.
Ted is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley; three children, Connie (Dan) Dockstader, Randy (Marcia) Mincer and Becky (John) Robinson; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lola Anderson, Kay (Jim) McMartin and Marvel (Bob) Caskey; various nieces and nephews.
