Tom, the son of Kenneth Allen and Dorothy (Totman) Conley, was born August 29, 1936, in Quimby, Iowa. He grew up in Quimby and graduated from Quimby Consolidated School in 1954.
Tom received his BS degree in education from Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska in 1958. He received his Master's Degree in Education from the Colorado State College in Greeley, CO in 1963, and beyond that administration instruction.
Tom was united in marriage to Lorraine Lois Watt at the Methodist Church in Quimby, Iowa on June 8, 1958. They made their home in Pierson, Iowa, where Tom taught high school math and coached boys basketball and baseball. Tom taught one year in Kingsley, Iowa. In 1962, the family moved to Larrabee, Iowa, where Tom was the school's principal. In 1964, Tom was hired as the Junior High Principal of the Sutherland School District at Calumet, Iowa, where the family lived for 12 years. The family moved to Spencer in 1977, where Tom was the Middle School Principal for 19 years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Tom was also an active member of the Golden K Kiwanis. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, gardening, and boating. In the spring of 1996, Tom's teachers voted him Boss of the Year. He was also the Honorary Referee at the Tiger Relays.
Tom passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Monday, July 24, 2006, at the age of 69. Preceding Tom in death were his father and his brother, David Conley.
Left to treasure his memory are his wife, Lorraine, of Spencer, IA; two daughters and their husbands: Kelly and Rev. David Tellinghuisen of Bradenton, FL, and their children, Ryan and Laura; Ann and Neal Williamsen of Milford, IA, and their children, Sara and Scott; one son and his wife, Michael and Becky Conley of Spencer, IA, and their children, Tyler and Maddie; his mother, Dorothy Conley of Quimby, Iowa; other relatives and many friends.
Tom enjoyed being with his children, grandchildren, mother and friends. We all have special memories of him playing cards, fishing, and watching sports.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the Abben Cancer Center, Grace United Methodist Church or the Golden K Kiwanis.

Visitation will begin on Thursday at 2:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
