Thomas Garrod was born February 10, 1920 in Washta, Iowa to Tim and Martha (Small) Garrod. Tom grew up in that small community surrounded by family and friends. Tom married Cleo Ihry on September 23, 1939. They made their home in Cherokee and shortly after Tom left to serve his country as a part of the army during W.W.II. He was sent overseas and returned to the states due to wounds he sustained while serving in France.
Tom lead an active and adventurous life as a store manager, implement salesman, farmer, postmaster, a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, Legionnaire and member of V.F.W. He always enjoyed sharing with his children and grandchildren stories of his childhood. Faith, family, cars and the open road were always important in his life.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Cleo; three daughters: Sharon (Terry) Schnetter, Lynda (Bill) Fettes and Connie (Bill) Honkomp; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, July 26, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.

VISITATION
Will begin at 2:00pm on Sunday with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00pm with a Catholic Vigil Service at 7:00pm at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
